    染織指導者 Yuma Taru 氏の工房訪問。染織の工程見学、苧麻の苧引き観察。
    台中繊維博物館 見学。
  • 台東|アート&フィールド
    旧製糖工場エリアのアートシーン散策。
    国立史前博物館 にて、カジノキ(タパの原材料)太平洋分布のDNA解析で知られる張先生によるタパ講義。
    スローフードの旗手 リン・チー さんから、原住民族の食とスローフードについて学ぶ。
    プヌン族:苧麻の畑見学、苧引き実習、織りの見学。
    アミ族:織りの見学、名物・トビウオ料理を味わう。
    光織屋工房:タパづくり実習、山の植物観察。
  • 花蓮
    国立東華大学:原住民族の服飾コレクション拝観、織り実習。希望者は織り機の購入も可能。

Visits & Hands-On Highlights

▪ Taipei / National Taiwan University Area

  • Visit the studio of textile scholar and master weaver Yuma Taru, observe her workshop, and learn about dyeing, fiber preparation, and academic perspectives on indigenous textiles.

▪ Hualien / East Coast Region

  • Field trip to indigenous communities on Taiwan’s East Coast.

  • Learn about the production of Bashing (banana fiber), Kazhi (paper mulberry bark, used for tapa cloth), and ramie fibers, including the DNA research proving genetic links across the Pacific.

  • Discover the slow food traditions of indigenous Taiwan through ingredients, taste, and stories.

  • Hands-on activities: fiber extraction, weaving basics, dyeing methods.

  • Enjoy local cuisine, scenic beauty, and mountain village landscapes.

▪ Taitung

  • Visit textile museums; see historic and modern collections.

  • Hands-on weaving and optional purchases of locally made equipment and materials.

Food & Accommodation

  • Throughout the journey, experience indigenous slow food, local seasonal dishes, and East Coast specialties.

  • All accommodations are at clean, comfortable lodges and hotels.

  • In indigenous villages, local guides and staff will accompany and support the group.

  • Meet in the lobby of the Taipei hotel

  • Orientation

  • Welcome party

March 5 (Thu) — Day 2

  • Travel to Taichung by High-Speed Rail

  • Visit a Tayal (Atayal) Indigenous village by bus

  • Visit Yuma Taru’s studio

  • Guided tour of the Taichung Textile Museum

  • Lunch in Taichung

  • Return to Taipei / stay overnight in Taipei

March 6 (Fri) — Day 3

  • Fly from Songshan Airport to Taitung

  • Tour of the Taitung spinning/weaving factory

  • Visit the National Museum of Prehistory

  • Lecture by Dr. Lin on the history of bark cloth

  • Taitung city tour

  • Enjoy Taitung slow food and listen to Linchie’s lecture

  • Indigenous cuisine dinner

  • Overnight in Taitung

March 7 (Sat) — Day 4

  • Visit Amis community

  • Fiber workshop with Amis women (ramie harvesting and stripping)

  • Exchange session with Indigenous community members

March 8 (Sun) — Day 5

  • Mountain fieldwork: gathering banana fiber, ramie, and kuzu

  • Light weaving / tabakoi (hand-twisting) workshop

  • Bark cloth–making experience

  • Amis-style lunch

March 9 (Mon) — Day 6

  • Workshop at Xincheng Banana Fiber Studio

  • Train to Hualien

March 10 (Tue) — Day 7

  • Weaving practice at the National Taitung University area
